Endless Love Short Story Released Today!

One of my babies has finally made it out into the world. Endless Love has been released into the wilds of Amazon, and I’m simultaneously happy and terrified. I have been sitting on this short story for what feels like forever, tweaking here and there, and even completely rewriting it a time or two. There have been numerous back and forth from beta readers and other authors, which helped refine it further. Do I know what I’m doing? Not really *chuckle*. I’m learning as I go, and I love feedback!

Endless Love is the story of Andrea, a member of the royal family of Atlantis, and the chaos surrounding the fall of Atlantis. As her people become terrible creatures of myth, Andrea must hunt them down to protect the mortals they are preying on, including her mate, Rian…which would mean her own death as well.

Six Sentence Sunday ~ Steve’s Mistake

Another little teaser from House of Dolls for Six Sentence Sunday!

Steve grunted as he lifted another shovel full of dirt. He was bound and determined to find out what was in these graves, especially after Diana’s visit with that old bat Maggie. Steve knew that she knew far more than she was letting on, and he was determined to find out what. His only son was dead, from causes unknown. The autopsy said it was a heart attack, yet there were no clogged arteries or other reasons for his teenage son to have one. Nor were there any toxins in his bloodstream that could have caused such a violent reaction.

Enjoy!

Six Sentence Sunday – Belle’s Insanity

Today’s Six Sentence Sunday comes to you once again from House of Dolls, since it is my main WIP. I don’t necessarily play by the rules (often because I forget that it’s Sunday until later in the day) but the main site is here with tons of participants. It’s also where I got the idea. 😉  That being said, forward to the six sentences!

“I wouldn’t have let you live in that house if I thought there was anything wrong with it. There was the case of Belle, but we thought she was just plum crazy. She had this huge doll collection, creepy things too…they were in every room. Though her mother saw some things in there that made some of us think it wasn’t just Belle, but you know how crazy runs in families,” she said defensively. “But no one ever died, except for Belle’s first husband, but that was of natural causes. Or at least that’s what we were told.”

Hope you enjoyed it!

Once Upon A Time Flash Fiction Contest Entry

This is my entry for the Once Upon A Time Flash Fiction contest that is held here by @ruanna3 and @sjiholliday.

Twisted Cinderella

Tina was tired of being hated. It wasn’t always like that, when she was a girl she was cossetted by both her parents and there was so much love in the house it amazed Tina that the seams didn’t split. That is, until her mother died in childbirth. They said her brother was still born. Her Momma died three days later, some said of a broken heart. Then Papa remarried to an evil harridan. Tina wasn’t allowed to call her that; however, it was always “Madam.”

The Harridan came with three kids of her own, as she had been widowed for many years. She had two of the most selfish girls possible and a horrid son. Fortunately the son had established his own house after being at school for many years, so Tina didn’t have to deal with him often. He made her extremely leery when he did come around, he had a gleam in his eyes that made Tina want to crawl into the nearest corner and hide.

She spent years as a servant to them. At first her Papa would take some of the burden off, make sure she was well fed and had decent clothes. But eventually even that stopped as Papa got more comfortable with having an unpaid servant around. She had enough of being kicked around like a dog, having the fact that she was half-fae shoved into her face like it was an insult and having nothing but rags to clothe her blooming body. So she started slipping arsenic into their morning and afternoon tea. Small amounts at first, but as time went on larger and larger amounts. Being half-fae worked in her favor, as she used what magic she knew to ensure that no trace remained on her hands or on the tea set.

Finally the glorious day came. She went upstairs to Papa and the Harridan’s bedroom to wake them as she always did, and they were dead. Faking a scream, she dropped the tea to the floor and ran into the girls’ rooms. They were also dead. She had done it.

Lucky 7 Meme: WIP Sneak Peek

Like other writers, I was tagged in the Lucky 7 Meme.  I think people just want to see what I’m working on, you sneaky people! There’s actually 8 paragraphs here, but it’s mostly dialogue so you get it all. This is from my WIP House of Dolls (working title). You can give feedback if you want, but remember this is just a rough draft. 🙂

Thanks to Angie for tagging me. Brat. 😉

“Do you like the doll Andy? Isn’t Cornelia beautiful?” Andrea looked the doll up and down. She shuddered.

“Looks rather creepy to me. Those eyes seem like they’re staring into my soul or something. Keep it away from me, I hate creepy dolls.” Andrea looked away and hunched over her breakfast. Dresden looked puzzled and a bit upset.

“Cornelia is beautiful Andy. Not creepy!” She looked down at the doll. “Don’t mind Andy Cornelia, she’s just mean in the morning. I’m sure she meant nothing by it. You aren’t creepy, you’re absolutely darling.” She hugged the doll, then started eating her breakfast. Andrea looked at her sideways.

“Aren’t you a little old to be playing with dolls anyway? And really Dres, talking to dolls is the first step to insanity. The doll is creepy, and the fact that you’re talking to it makes it even creepier. Seriously Dres, what the hell?”

“Andrea, language!” Diana scowled at her daughter. “If she wants to play with a doll, she can. And you talked to plenty of dolls in your time my dear. So leave your sister alone.” Dresden looked up from her food.

“Thanks Mom. Cornelia thanks you too.” Steve looked over the top of his newspaper.

“Where did you say you found that doll Dresden? It might belong to someone else.”

“Cornelia was sitting in the corner of my room Dad, all covered with dust and looking unloved.” Dresden clutched the doll closer to her. “She needs my love Dad. She belongs to no one else but me!”

I’d tag someone, but everyone has already been tagged! If you want to take part, go right ahead! Leave a link in comments so I can read your excerpt.
